Troponin – T

1,000.00

A troponin T test measures the levels of troponin T proteins in the blood. These proteins are released when the heart muscle has been damaged, such as occurs with a heart attack. The more damage there is to the heart, the greater the amount of troponin T there will be in the blood.

SPECIMEN: 2 mL (1 mL min.) serum in 1 SST. Ship refrigerated or frozen.

STABILITY: Room: 8 hrs; Refrigerated: 72 hrs; Frozen: 4 weeks

REPORT: Daily

PRE-TEST INFORMATION: No special preparation required.

USAGE: Troponin-T is a marker of Acute Myocardial Infarction rising 2-4 hours after the onset of Myocardial necrosis and can remain elevated up to 14 days. High levels are also seen in Unstable angina. It may also be used in monitoring patients with non-ischemic causes of cardiac injury.
