CD138 is expressed on plasma cells and can be useful in the diagnosis of Plasma cell neoplasms. Epithelial cells and endothelial cells may also express CD138. In normal tonsil, CD138 strongly stains the membranes of mature plasma cells and squamous epithelial cells.

SPECIMEN: Submit Tissue in 10% formal-saline OR formalin fixed paraffin embedded Tissue Block. Ship at room temperature. Provide a copy of the Histopathology report, Site of biopsy and Clinical history.
