A fasting blood sugar test measures sugar (glucose) in your blood. It’s a simple, safe and common way to diagnose prediabetes, diabetes or gestational diabetes. A healthcare provider will prick your finger or use a needle to draw blood from a vein in your arm.

SPECIMEN: 2 mL (1 mL min.) plasma from 1 Grey Top (Sodium Fluoride) tube. Ship refrigerated or frozen. Minimum 8 hours fasting is mandatory.
STABILITY: Room: 6 hrs; Refrigerated: 72 hrs; Frozen: 1 week
REPORT: Daily
INSTRUCTIONS: Overnight fasting is mandatory.
USAGE: Glucose determinations are useful in the detection and management of Diabetes mellitus.
