Blood tests for H pylori can only tell if your body has H pylori antibodies. It cannot tell if you have a current infection or how long you have had it.

USAGE: Colonization with H.pylori is associated with increased risk of developing gastritis, peptic ulcer disease and gastric malignancies. Antibody IgA may be elevated for years in infected individuals. Following treatment, values generally decrease, but may not become undetectable.
