C-Reactive Protein (CRP)

600.00

A c-reactive protein test measures the level of c-reactive protein (CRP) in your blood. CRP is a protein made by your liver. It’s sent into your bloodstream in response to inflammation. Inflammation is your body’s way of protecting your tissues if you’ve been injured or have an infection.

SPECIMEN: 2 mL (0.5 mL min.) serum from 1 SST. Ship refrigerated or frozen.

STABILITY: Room: 8 hrs; Refrigerated: 2 months; Frozen: 6 months

REPORT: Daily

PRE-TEST INFORMATION: No preparation required.

USAGE: C Reactive Protein (CRP) is the most sensitive acute phase reactant for inflammation. The levels increase dramatically (100 fold or more) after severe trauma, bacterial infection, surgery and neoplastic proliferation. This assay is useful in detecting systemic inflammatory process and infection. It assesses response to antibiotic treatment and differentiates between active and inactive disease forms with concurrent infection.
